Our Vetting Process: Building a trusted network
May 19, 2025
Finding the right therapist can make all the difference, and we know how important it is to get this right. This is why we're building a comprehensive vetting process for selecting the therapists, counsellors and psychologists you'll be able to find and book through Speckle.
Every practitioner will need to hold current licences and accreditations from recognised professional bodies such as the British Psychological Society (BPS), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or British College of Psychologists (BCP). Beyond these credentials, they must demonstrate at least three years of direct experience working with autistic individuals.
We won't allow open sign-ups. Each candidate will go through a comprehensive vetting process that includes credential verification, background screening and detailed review of their clinical approach. This ensures they align with our values of neuro-affirming care and meet our safeguarding standards.
We're looking at not just what practitioners know, but how they work. We want to see evidence that they understand autistic experiences, are familiar with challenges like sensory processing differences and executive functioning difficulties, and are committed to working collaboratively with their clients rather than taking a prescriptive approach.
Our oversight will continue after practitioners join Speckle. We're planning ongoing training and supervision to maintain high standards, and we'll regularly gather feedback from users to ensure quality and identify areas for continuous improvement.
When you browse therapists on Speckle, you'll be able to feel confident knowing they've been carefully selected and are committed to supporting neurodivergent wellbeing in meaningful ways.
